ABOUT GROUP "G"
We are just some of the 187 Filipino nurses from different key cities and towns all across the G-lobe. Randomly, there is somebody from Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman, United States, Northern Mariana Islands, New Zealand, Singapore and the
Philippines who share the sentiment that the University of the Philippines Online University has bridged the gap for Filipinos overseas who wanted to pursue post graduate studies to master the art
and science of nursing but are concerned with exorbitant tuition fees, accessibility, flexibility and
other challenges.
There's 23 of us in Group G right now called by fate and bound by destiny to make a very good impression on our professor and hopefully get uno on N207. Lol kidding only Prof Sheila!
But on a serious note, despite our careers, we believe that we are never too young or too old for academic growth. Our motivations vary. Some aspire for managerial posts. Others need an outlet to kill time productively. Maybe a few plan to be part of the academe. Many are excited living the dream of finally becoming UP students! Ultimately, we are all of the opinion that we become better nurses to our patients just by never stopping learning.
It will be shooting for the moon to hope that we all will make it through. So many stumbling blocks along the way and putting up this "blog" individually and collectively is no small feat indeed. It's one thing that in the process of learning and relearning, we get to discover interesting activities like this
one to channel our creative juices. But we are not missing the point that the bigger picture here is
getting to know other nurses with different backgrounds, achievements and inspiring clinical and
sometimes interesting personal narratives - or simply meeting new soon-to-be-friends, rekindling the spirit of teamwork and expanding one's network!
This is a group project involving exhaustive gathering of interesting materials mostly from the Internet about the theorist of the hour Joyce Travelbee and her Human-to-Human Relationship Model AND an attempt at making a blog about what we learned on this theory.
We do not own any rights to the contents herewith and this site only serves the purpose of
fulfilling the course requirement and is exclusive only to the 187 classmates and the faculty
members tasked to critique and grade it, respectively, later on.
But for a personal touch, we have put in our own reflections on how Travelbee's much celebrated
work impacted the way we look at nursing based on the pearls her work featured.
In closing, we hope that whoever gets to open any section of our "blog" will enjoy any and all that youstumble upon. Blogging, or what we think we did, is a brand new communication tool for us in the group. Until THE day of cheers and jeers when this work gets evaluated we assure you, modesty
aside, that there is nothing out there quite like what we have put together here. It will make us glad if we can make you recall your experiences of being a world-class Filipino nurse or better yet continue inspiring you to be one!
Cheers!
